Jeffrey Larson, Aubrey E. Thompke-Damron, and I were commissioned to paint a mural in the historic Wagner Ballroom of the Eastend Studio & Gallery, Marshall’s original dance hall from 1870 to 1910. We implemented a classic chinoiserie design originally developed by artist Michael Peck and taught to us by his muralist partner Aubrey, who had already painted many rooms in the building during its restoration. This mural took over 240 combined hours to complete, using several transparent layers to achieve the desired effect.
